Method:
Preheat oven to 220 degrees Celsius. Place sugar, flour and cold butter into a food processor and pulse until the mixture starts to come together. Add almonds, oats and continue to pulse the mixture until it forms a large crumb. Your end result will depend on the food processor and temperature of the butter, make sure it's cold. Spread the crumb mix evenly on a tray and refrigerate. To make the pear filling, place the butter in to a large pot or pan over high heat. Once the butter has melted, add the pears and cook for 10 - 15 minutes or until soft, but not falling apart. Remove from the heat and allow pears to cool.
