Project Lead, Older People Eating at Home – A transformational project leading the way we think about food as we age
Job and person specification.
The Maggie Beer Foundation was established by Maggie Beer AO in 2014 to improve food quality, nutrition and the overall food experience for all older people, whether living at home or in a residential aged care home.
The Foundation has received philanthropic funding to undertake a ground-breaking project which will bring our food-first and social lens to tackle issues relating to the unacceptably high risk of malnutrition among older Australians living in their own homes.
This project will focus on the long-overdue food needs of older people in the community, including understanding the perspectives of older people, and then identifying community and home-based initiatives that show promise or have evidence of improving the nutritional status and well-being of older Australians.
We will work with a wide group of stakeholders, including older people, carers, aged care providers, health professionals, foodies and food experts, local groups, governments, and food services, to improve access to good food for older people.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the part-time Project Lead will be responsible for driving and managing The Older People Living at Home Project.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
- planning and leadership of the project and communication of its objectives to all stakeholders and partners;
- designing and delivering appropriate stakeholder engagement opportunities including surveys, focus groups, workshops and roundtables;
- extensive development and management of strong and productive relationships with key stakeholders and partners;
- establishing and managing appropriate project governance, risk management and compliance including reporting and advice to the Foundation;
- financial oversight and reporting, ensuring a profitable and sustainable business model for the project.
Applications are encouraged from people with qualifications and/or experience in project leadership, analysis, communications and stakeholder engagement.
The capacity to partner and a genuine affinity with the mission of the Foundation are essential. This role will suit a self-starter who loves bringing others with them, and with the capacity to be curious, practical and outcomes driven. Experience in aged care, health, human services, social research and broader not-for-profit sectors will be well regarded.
Applications, including a cover letter, CV and names of referees, should be submitted to info@maggiebeerfoundation.org.au by 25 May 2025. For any enquiries, please email info@maggiebeerfoundation.org.au.
