Supported by our CEO, Sandi Websdale, I was fortunate to attend the September 2019 Maggie Beer Foundation Masterclass in Sydney.
“Coming away from the Masterclass I felt so for fortunate to have spent time with like-minded cooks/chefs and facilitators, inspiring us all to be the best that we can be and to create the best food for our residents in our homes”.
Post Masterclass we have planted a kitchen garden, some of our residents have enjoyed viewing the garden, and they all love hearing about the progression during our monthly resident meetings. We have also implemented changes to our texture modified meals by changing our presentation (piping and using food moulds), the response from our residents, staff and families has been overwhelming. We have also and added a bread-makers in our dining room and dementia wing to create the wonderful aromas of freshly baked bread- Our residents have been adoring freshly baked bread that they can smell and even are able to keep a watchful eye over.
“I personally feel so privileged every day to be able to go to work and do what I love – cook “.
