Keeping in touch with our elders

As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to change how we live and interact with each other, including now restrictions on visiting aged care homes, it might be time to get creative with how to keep in touch with family and friends who can’t have visitors. An aged care home in the UK recently shared on their social media sites the following: 'Can we ask you for a favour? We have restricted access to our home but that doesn't mean we aren't sociable. Could you take the time to write to us? A card, a letter, a drawing? Tell us where you are. Who you are and tell all of our residents a bit about your day? What you like doing and if you send your address we can write back too. All ages most welcome. We might be behind closed doors but we've got lots of people who would love to hear from you.' What a simple idea, definitely one that all ages could get involved in too - younger children could draw a picture, those slightly older could use this idea as part of their 'home-schooling' and the residents at your local aged care home will be thrilled to hear from you.
