Maggie Beer Foundation August update

August has been such a busy month for Maggie and the Foundation, it’s hard to know where to start! Maggie visited Regis East Malvern; the chef, Sabu and his team put on a fabulous morning tea, using Maggie Beer Foundation recipes, which helped make the event a huge success. The residents were in their element and kept talking about their experience and how amazing Maggie’s energy was.  One lady said it was the best day of her life! Maggie spent an evening in conversation with Malcolm Farr, sharing stories of her life, the Maggie Beer Foundation and the passion that led her to write 'Recipes for Life' (co-written with Professor Ralph Martins) at the Canberra Writers Festival, held at the National Portrait Gallery. Maggie and Lynn, our CEO, had the pleasure of hearing from UniSA Visual Communication students about ‘Essence’, the project they, and other students have worked on to improve the dining experience of residents in aged care homes. Maggie and the others in attendance were so excited about the ideas presented and are now working together to see where this goes! The Aged Care Catering Summit inspired and informed delegates from all over Queensland earlier this month. Lynn James, our CEO gave her thoughts on ‘The whole dining experience,’ then joined a panel to discuss ‘Dining trends for seniors’ with Guy Luscombe, SYSTEMarchitects, Cherie Hugo from The Lantern Group and moderator Mary Atkins.
