The Maggie Beer Foundation is looking for an experienced cook or chef to join our national chef trainer mentor team. You will ideally, be based either in New South Wales or Queensland, but if you’re qualified and passionate about this opportunity, do submit your application regardless of your location.

Who are we? The Maggie Beer Foundation works with government, aged care homes and health professionals to improve the food and dining experience in aged care.

The Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care is funding the Foundation to deliver face to face training to chefs and cooks in aged care homes via a national network of chefs and cooks.

About the role? Full time, hybrid work from home with intra / interstate travel. Extremely competitive salary packaging with remuneration details disclosed during short-list interviews.

You will work with government, aged care homes and health professionals to improve the food and dining experience in aged care through support and education of industry cooks and chefs.

Key tasks are:

• Working within an aged care kitchen to train, upskill and mentor staff.
• Develop teaching materials, lesson plans and presentations for virtual and in person use.
• Writing information and resources for Professional Community.
• Upscaling and adapting recipes for aged care kitchens, including texture modified meals.

Qualities, skills and experience essential for this role are:

• Minimum of 5 years in senior commercial kitchen roles.
• Experience managing, leading and developing a team.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to share knowledge and skills in a friendly and relatable manner.
• Excellent time management skills and able to work independently.
• Very good problem-solving skills.
• Adaptable, innovative, reliable, and calm.
• Must be willing to travel within and between States and Territories.
• Able to use core administration tools i.e. Microsoft Office, Teams & Outlook.
• Strong and enthusiastic commitment to spread the Maggie Beer Foundation vision.
• An authentic sense of empathy, integrity, and discretion.

Skills and experience desired but not essential are:

• Previous teaching / training experience.
• Experience in the Aged Care Home environment.
• Successfully completed the Maggie Beer Foundation online learning modules.
