What’s in Season?

28 November, 2019

There is no escaping, with Christmas now less than a month away, shops sharing their impressive displays and cheer and your calendars filling with end of year events. We take a moment to remember those in residential aged care, this may feel like a lonely time for them as they reflect on the past. Please don’t forget our older Australians during this busy time.

Those who enjoy the garden will be noticing the need to water more due to the warm, sun filled days. The seasonal produce nicely aligns with the meals that fit the warming weather.  You may be starting to enjoy salads and BBQ’s, stir-fries, smoothies or fruit salad. Beetroot should be plentiful, along with avocados and berries; hope you are making the most of these colourful nutrient packed bites, perfect just as is!

It is nice to see the beginning of the stone fruits, their sweet scent marks the beginning of summer and the days longer days ahead.

We share two festive recipes this edition, if you have left over Christmas ham, have a go at our Festive potato Salad or, for those entertaining, why not bake this special, flavour filled Almond, Fruit Mince and Apple Log encased in crispy filo pastry; a sure winner!
