The Maggie Beer Foundation, funded by the Australian Federal Government’s Department of Health and Aged Care, are delivering education and training to improve the dining, food, and nutritional outcomes for older people in Aged Care. This education program offers support to Providers, Homes, Cooks and Chefs in a range of activities and they are all FREE!

Method:
1. Preheat fan forced oven to 160°C.Line cake pan(s) with baking paper. 2. Mix apples, brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. 3. Sift flour, skim milk powder, baking powder together. 4. Combine egg, oil, orange juice and vanilla, mix well. 5. Stir liquid into dry mixture and mix to a smooth batter. 6. Place half the batter in the cake pan, top with the apple slices. 7. Cover with remaining batter cake mixture should be about 3-4cm deep before baking. 8. Bake for 50 minutes then check with a skewer to determine if cake is cooked through. 9. If cake requires further time check every 10 minutes until done. 10. Allow to cool fully. 11. Portion into 10 serves.
